Day 14, Time to Pack

We spent the day cleaning up the condo, doing laundry, and packing for the trip home.  We did manage to hit Kona Brewing company for some desert and pizza for our final dinner in Hawaii though!  When we got home, the kids took one last dip in the pool.  It was a weekend night though and the local condo residents were out in force, so, it was pretty busy.  We had to be up by 5:15 in the morning the next day to catch our flight.  None of us were ready to leave and dreading going home.  But, the weather at home had been beautiful while we were gone, so, we forced ourselves to accept the inevitable, telling each other about how we would get our bikes out and enjoy the abnormally early spring.

Unfortunately, our departure seemed like everything that could go wrong, did.  I made us late cleaning the condo not realizing how far past the airport the closest gas station really was.  Then when we finally got to the airport, the self check-in system was not communicating with the airlines computer system.  So, everyone who had checked in at the kiosks had to be manually removed so that their luggage tags could be reprinted and tied in to the other system.  The line was insane and beyond slow.  Of course, Dave still had to return the rental car which was not onsite.  He cut it close, but, we made it and had a pretty good flight home.  Ironically, Owen's friend from school was on the same flight and he and his dad were sitting in the same row as Dave.  So, Owen and Dave switched seats and Owen and his friend played and giggled all the way home.  Liv had both Dave and I to herself, so, she was content to watch movies and color and never made a peep.

Kona Brewing is not the place to be on the weekends for dinner!!  We had quite a wait, but, I entertained the kids by making them take selfies with me and it turned out, we beat the real rush.  Even in the evening, it was borderline hot that night!!  Poor Liv was SO sweaty!!
The ice cream brownie sundae helped cool everybody down...;O)
I know I'm biased, but, I just think this is one of the cutest kids ever made!!  I LOVED being able to dress her up in all her summer gear.  We rarely get to wear summer clothes at home and both Liv and Owen seem so much more comfortable when we are in the Hawaii sunshine!!  It's such an amazing feeling to see them so happy and having so much fun.  Don't get me wrong though, the two sharing a bed for 2 weeks is not an option in the future!!  By the end, Owen was sleeping on the couch to get some space of his own!! ;O)
