The Best Laid Plans (Day 6-3/10)

Our original plan for the day was to hang out in Epcot this morning and spend the evening in Hollywood Studios.  But, we were out so late at Magic Kingdom last night, we were exhausted and knew we would want to sleep-in.  So, we decided instead to hang out at the hotel and spend some time at the pool in the morning and after a good nap, head to Hollywood Studios.

Unfortunately, Olivia came down with the sniffles last night.  She had a rough night, but, seemed much better in the morning.  So, we went ahead and headed to the pool around 10.  It was cool and windy when we first got there, but, by noon, it was super hot!   The pool is SO cold!  There was no way I was going to swim at that temperature.  So, I took the opportunity to take pictures around the hotel instead.

This shot is the main building where the cafeteria and gift store is located.  To the right is the outdoor eating area and the bar (to the right but not in the picture).  Pasts the bar and seating area is the pool.

These are shots of the elaborate pool, it was super fun even if it wasn't warm. That's Owen bobbing at the bottom of the stairs.

And there he is going down one of the three slides...he LOVED the slides and would just do them non-stop until he couldn't pull himself out of the hotel.

This is the second slide.  He was too tired he almost couldn't bring himself to go down one more time, so the lifeguard helped me convince him to do it and then he stood in the way of the picture to holler at that other little boy, DUDE!!!

And the last one...I totally didn't realize that there were three different slides until doing the write-up just now, SO crazy!

So, here's my bathing beauty when he just couldn't go any more.  He's just so handsome even though he's as pale as his mother! ;O)

This is the toddler's swim area with a pirate ship.  I was doing laundry when Dave took Liv over to this area, but, I guess it was short lived.  She definitely prefers the hot tub over the pool or the slides.  Not to mention...

This is what happens every few minutes!!  It's not as bad as it looks, but, isn't exactly fun to be in when you are teeny.  Not sure the thought process here!

Olivia agreed to go with me to the playground area to take pictures while we waited for the boys to dry out.  Although, she wasn't necessarily the most cooperative model! ;O)  This is the bridge that connects the front half of the resort to the playground and then to the back half of the resort.  This place is so huge.  There's a running trail that goes around the lake on the inside of the hotel complex and it's 1.2 miles!!!

View from the bridge...

Cannon at the playground area that overlooks the lake.

A little sand and another bathing beauty...

And a friend hiding in the weeds...there's a second sandy area just down the path with an actual playground to play on, but, it was so boring, I didn't even bother to take pictures.  It was quite a disappointment after the grandness of the rest of the complex.

Liv wanted to play in the sand, so, I took a turn in the hammock and looked up to see this view...I'm sure there's a name for this, but, how cool is it!

.

I think I mentioned before that we were in the Martinique portion of the complex in room 2352 on the second floor in building 23.  We loved the hotel complex and the room was great, but, just one room down was the housekeeping storage room.  The door on it was heavy and one of the housekeeping staff would go in and out of it, letting it slam behind them, every few minutes from 8 in the morning until 5 at night.  Coming home for a nap was frustrating.  Fortunately, we were all so exhausted from walking around the parks and still trying to recover from the long first day, so, it didn't seem to stop us from resting.

There are four other portions of the complex and each section is painted a different color. (Old Port Royale is the main building with the cafeteria and gift stores.)  Even after spending a week at the hotel complex, I have no opinion on what portion would be the most convenient.  We were reasonably close to the pool and main building as well as the bus stop in our section, but, I spent so much time lost, I had to walk an excessive amount anyway!!

This is a look back at the main building to give some perspective.  The lighthouse in front is where you can rent a fishing boat complete with a captain or a bike to ride around the complex.  On the far right you can see the front half of the bridge and the pool is in the background.

And one last look of our portion of the complex, each of which has a little beach of their own.

We headed to lunch at Red Lobster and hit Walgreens for some cold medicine for Liv who was deteriorating quickly.  We realized at that point that the kids weren't going to have time for a nap before our first Fast Pass at Hollywood Studios and Liv NEEDED one!  Later Fast Passes weren't available, so, we decided to go back to Magic Kingdom after nap time instead.   When we woke up though, it was apparent that the kids weren't having it.  Dave and I had a little heart ache about wasting a day of park tickets after spending so much, but, we had no interest in pushing the kids and quite honestly, we were pooped too.

So we took them to to Disneys Winter Summer Mini Golf Park as a compromise.  We all had a blast.  Olivia did really well, but, we lost her by hole 13.  At that point, she'd just throw the ball in the hole and call it good, haha!  I got some really fun pictures out of it though! Afterwards, we had dinner at Chick-Fil-A and then back to the hotel for a movie under the stars, Nemo this time...Owen opted to use up his arcade points instead of the movie.

Tomorrow we head to Miami.  Liv's been so funny.  First of all, for the last few days she's made comments about our "old house".  She's convinced we've moved to Florida.  When we explained that we were only here a short time and that we'd go home soon, she informed us that we should buy a big house here and get some tiny dogs (I assume to replace our big ones back home).  Then today she started asking about going to Your-ami...you know, we keep talking about My-ami...SO FUNNY!!!  She does the same thing with My Little Ponies...if you ask her about them she says "they aren't your ponies they are my little ponies".
