Road Trip (Day 7-3/11)

We packed up and said goodbye to Carribean Beach this morning around 10.  We all hated to leave, but, we're looking forward to some time at the beach.  We headed out and hit the interstate for what is supposed to be a 3.5 hour drive.   It was SO amazingly boring!!!  There's absolutely nothing off the turnpike but farmland.  No towns, no exits, nothing to look at...and all flat.  About halfway there we opted to take the slightly longer route on I-95 that at least went past some cities.  With bathroom breaks and food stops, it ended up taking us over 5 hours before we finally arrived at our destination, Miami Beach.

Liv fell asleep almost immediately and we couldn't even get her to wake up for lunch and a milkshake at Sonic!!

What a hell hole!!!!  The traffic was insane, so, by the time we got there, we decided there was no way to drive back to the city itself to look around as we had originally planned, but, we weren't exactly dying to at this point anyway.  I've seen reality shows set in Miami Brach and they didn't show this!!  There was no "good" part of town.  It was all dirty and looked sketchy and then right in the middle was Nieman Marcus and there was nothing but BMWs, Cadillacs, and Jaguars in the road around us.  So bizarre!

Our room was equally disgusting.  Everything was rusted beyond repair and the double pain windows had so much water between them you could barely see out.  We were definitely not pleased.  This is probably our last experience with VRBO...I'll just plan to pay-up in the future or stay home!

Anyway, we tried to make the best of it and headed out to the beach.  Everyone enjoyed it, but, it was not the atmosphere we were used to.  It didn't have the same smell I expect at the beach and again, just seemed a little dirtier than I'd expected.

I was in charge of watching our stuff and keeping Liv entertained while the boys played in the ocean. Besides taking pictures, this was how I kept myself entertained.

After grabbing a pizza for dinner and settling in for the night, it started... every time the A/C cut out it would make this loud banging/clanging sound that made us jump.  Imagine trying to sleep when every 20 minutes or so, It sounds like someone is kicking the front door in...this video does not do it justice!!!

It was a long night.  In the morning, we packed everything up and got out as fast as we could!!!!
